We offer concretes in all CSC-CO₂ levels.

In addition to using the maximum possible share of alternative fuels, reducing clinker in our cements is the main lever for lowering the CO₂ footprint of our products. We achieve this through alternative cement additives. In concrete, we ensure that the clinker factor is kept as low as possible by using clinker-reduced cements and adding aggregates to optimize sustainability properties.

Sustainable cements

In line with our commitment, "SUSTAINABILITY THAT WORKS," we use a wide range of products with enhanced sustainability features. These advances are primarily achieved by reducing clinker in cement through the use of alternative materials. Discover our sustainable product range.

Resource-efficient concrete

Resource-efficient concrete is a special type of concrete in which the processed, recycled aggregate comes from building demolition or demolition measures. This recycled aggregate replaces all or part of the natural coarse aggregate in the concrete.

CSC certification

Our German cement plants and many of our companies have been awarded CSC certification. The value of the CSC certificate lies primarily in its recognition by international sustainability assessment systems for buildings. These systems include BREEAM, LEED and DGNB, which recognise the CSC certificate.

Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs)

For our cements and selected concretes, EPDs with the best GWP values are available. EPDs, or Environmental Product Declarations in German, are standardized documents that transparently and comparably present the environmental impact of a product over its entire life cycle.

CI4C

The CI4C consortium is building the first research and development plant that almost completely captures CO₂ from the production process. A decisive step towards climate-neutral cement production.

meca-clay

Together with plant manufacturer thyssenkrupp Polysius, we have developed meca-clay technology for producing reactive pozzolanic cement grinding additives through purely mechanical activation of clays. This allows all types of clays to be converted into highly reactive cement additives without the use of fossil fuels, using only electrical grinding energy and without releasing CO₂ from the raw material.
