Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs)

EPDs with the best GWP values are available for our cements and selected concretes. EPDs, or Environmental Product Declarations, are standardised documents that present the environmental impact of a product throughout its entire life cycle in a transparent and comparable manner.

CSC certification

Our German cement plants and many of our companies have been awarded CSC certification. The value of the CSC certificate lies primarily in its recognition by international sustainability assessment systems for buildings. These systems include BREEAM, LEED and DGNB, which recognise the CSC certificate.

CI4C

The CI4C consortium is building the first research and development plant that captures almost all CO₂ from the production process—a crucial step toward climate-neutral cement production.

meca-clay

Together with plant manufacturer thyssenkrupp Polysius, we have developed meca-clay technology for producing reactive pozzolanic cement grinding additives through purely mechanical activation of clays. This allows all types of clays to be converted into highly reactive cement additives without the use of fossil fuels, using only electrical grinding energy and without releasing CO₂ from the raw material.

The use of clinker-reduced cements and other additives in concrete can significantly improve the ecological balance of the building material. On request, we can cover all CSC CO₂ levels with our concrete and cement products. Tailored precisely to your needs.
