SCHWENK continues to make progress on the CapsolGo® project: Equipment has arrived in Brocēni

4. April 2025

SCHWENK is pleased to announce a significant update regarding our CapsolGo® project. Following the successful completion of the first demonstration campaign at the Akmenės cement plant in Lithuania, which tested the feasibility of CO2 capture on an industrial scale using Hot Potassium Carbonate (HPC) technology, the CapsolGo® equipment has now arrived at the Brocēni cement plant in Latvia.

During the two-month trial period in Akmenė, the CapsolGo® equipment achieved an impressive carbon capture efficiency of up to 95%. These results confirm the feasibility of the technology in cement production and provide valuable insights for further steps toward decarbonization.

The equipment, consisting of separate, interconnected shipping containers, was installed at its designated location in Brocēni in early March. Building on this, intensive preparations are underway for the planned launch in May. These include connecting the equipment to the cement plant and the communication systems. For example, pipes for the flue gas supply must be prepared and the power supply connected.

With this continuation of the project in Latvia, SCHWENK underscores its role as a driver of innovation in the cement industry and remains firmly committed to sustainable solutions—in keeping with its slogan: SUSTAINABILITY THAT WORKS.
