Green Light for Construction Material Recycling in Achstetten

5. June 2025

Let’s kick off our push into construction material recycling: Construction work on the new soil washing plant in Achstetten, Baden-Württemberg, has now begun with a ceremonial groundbreaking. Together with Max Wild of Berkheim, we are building a wet mechanical processing plant. Operating in shifts, this facility will process up to 250,000 tons of mineral construction waste annually into high-quality recycled materials. Our two companies are pooling our expertise in the new company SW BAUMINERALIK Donau-Iller GmbH & Co. KG.

The new soil washing plant is scheduled to begin operations in June 2026. Max Wild and SCHWENK are investing a low double-digit million euro amount in the wet mechanical processing plant in Achstetten. With this, we are sending a clear signal in support of a responsible circular economy and resource conservation—with a regional focus on the Biberach and Alb-Donau districts—and for the entire construction industry.

“It’s simply fantastic that construction of our new soil washing plant is now underway. With the wet mechanical processing plant in Achstetten, we can significantly increase the regional recycling rate and further expand the production of recycled building materials,” explain SW BAUMINERALIK’s managing directors, Markus Wild and Joachim Kainz. “With this modern soil washing plant, we’re conserving valuable resources while simultaneously producing high-performance secondary building materials on the path to sustainable construction.”
