WHAT’S NEW
AT SCHWENK
Successful introduction of the Logistics 2.0 project at the Allmendingen plant
Following the successful introduction of the yard management system in August 2023 at the Mergelstetten pilot plant, the system went live at the Allmendingen cement plant on February 12.
Thanks to the excellent preparatory work by colleagues in Allmendingen, the launch at 5:00 in the morning went smoothly. The first registered silo vehicles being loaded were already able to exit via the fast lane using camera recognition, without stopping. This will allow future traffic backups into the plant in the exit area to be avoided.
For further optimization at the Allmendingen plant, the forklifts for bag loading will be equipped with terminals in the coming weeks, and the mobile version of the yard management system will be rolled out subsequently.
The new plant logistics system enables suppliers and collectors at our plants to check in independently via self-service terminals, thereby reducing waiting and throughput times for all trucks. At our pilot plant in Mergelstetten, initial successes were already evident shortly after its introduction, with truck throughput times reduced by 25%. Further plants of the SCHWENK Baustoffgruppe will be converted later this year.
At this point, a heartfelt thank you to all those involved and especially to the project team for the flawless implementation.
