Resource-efficient construction with recycled concrete: Innovative pilot project in Leipzig.

30. May 2025

As part of the “Senec Saarländer Straße” construction project in Leipzig, we are setting a clear sign for resource-efficient construction together with strong partners. For the first time, our innovative R-Concrete with 30% recycled aggregate (Type 1) is being used in the installation of an industrial floor.

The concrete used, class C25/30, impresses not only with its resistance but surpasses conventional concrete in key aspects – particularly with regard to environmental impact and resource efficiency. A significant step towards resource-efficient construction.

Involved in the project:

  • Köster GmbH – Construction execution
  • aii Allgemeine Industrieboden + Instandsetzungs GmbH – Installation of the industrial floor
  • MIB AG – Project development and client
  • SCHWENK Beton Anhalt GmbH & Co. KG – Concrete delivery and project support
  • SCHWENK Technologiezentrum GmbH & Co. KG – Quality assurance and technical support

The industrial floor has now been fully installed and has successfully passed the critical curing phase. A recent inspection showed: The surface is free of voids and cracks. Initial tests confirm the excellent performance of the recycled concrete.

By using recycled concrete, we are already making an active contribution to CO₂ reduction and the protection of natural resources – without compromising on quality or processing.
