Progress on the construction of the Fehmarn Belt Tunnel

29. July 2025

Construction of the Fehmarn Belt Tunnel, one of Europe’s largest infrastructure projects, is progressing rapidly in 2025. The project, which will connect Germany and Denmark underground in the future, is visibly taking shape on both sides of the Baltic Sea.

Current Status of Construction Work

On the German side in Puttgarden, the focus is currently on the tunnel portal, which is being constructed using the cut-and-cover method. In this process, the floor slab, side walls, and tunnel roof are being built one after the other.

On the Danish side in Rødbyhavn, production of the 89 tunnel segments is in full swing: the standard segments are being manufactured in five production halls, while the shorter special segments with an integrated utility level are being built outdoors.

Our role in the project: Pump expertise for the most demanding applications

Through our subsidiary KUNO Betonpumpenservice, we are on-site to provide direct support. Our high-performance pumps and experienced teams ensure that the concrete is delivered precisely and reliably to where it is needed—whether for the tunnel tubes, the operations building, or the bridge structures. A project of this scale demands the highest level of reliability, and that is exactly what we deliver.

Nächste Schritte im Baufortschritt

In the coming months, production of additional tunnel segments will continue while the first segments are lowered into place. At the same time, work on the tunnel portal on the German side is progressing, with the goal of gradually making the connection between Germany and Denmark a reality.
