Start of the first slip‑form construction phase: Allmendingen plant reaches the next milestone in building the multi‑chamber blending silo with three steel loading silos.

21. March 2026

Allmendingen, March 2026 – The Allmendingen plant of SCHWENK Zement GmbH & Co. KG is consistently continuing its modernization path and has reached an important milestone in the major project ‘multi‑chamber blending silo’: On 19 March 2026, the first slip‑form construction phase of the lower silo body began. One day later, on 20 March 2026, the slip‑form construction site was officially inaugurated in the presence of Mayor Florian Teichmann and other project participants.

As early as the end of 2025, the company had begun the foundation work for the new multi‑chamber blending silo as well as three additional steel loading silos. In total, SCHWENK is investing around 30 million euros to make production processes at the site more flexible, efficient, and sustainable.

Slip-form construction around the clock: The silo rises 2.5 meters every day

To advance the concrete works as resource‑efficiently and quickly as possible, the silo body is being constructed using a 24/7 slip‑form process.

The emerging silo body has a diameter of around 22 meters and grows by approximately 2.5 meters per day during the first construction phase — until an interim height of 25 meters is reached. This initial slip‑form stage is expected to be completed before Easter 2026.

Interior construction and second slip‑form phase

After the first phase is completed, massive precast concrete cones will be installed inside the silo body, forming the future funnel of the multi‑chamber blending silo. The second slip‑form phase will then follow, raising the structure to its planned final height of 58 meters. This construction stage is scheduled to begin in early July 2026 and is expected to take around 12 days.

Strong project partners for a major undertaking

For the complex structural and logistical requirements, SCHWENK has experienced partners:

  • IBAU Hamburg is acting as the general contractor.
  • The concrete and slip‑form works are being carried out by Glass GmbH (Mindelheim) and GSB‑Gleitschnellbau GmbH (Freilassing).

With the progress of the multi‑chamber blending silo, SCHWENK is sending a clear signal for the sustainable further development of the Allmendingen site.
