1345 m³ Level 2 concrete for a heat storage facility: SUSTAINABILITY THAT WORKS

6. May 2025

At the beginning of February, a foundation for a heat storage facility was realized in cooperation with Züblin. Despite winter conditions, 1345 m³ of concrete were delivered in 178 loads from the Donautal, Pfuhl and Merklingen plants of SCHWENK Beton Alb-Donau. Three pumps from BPU-Betonpumpenunion were used to bring the concrete onto the construction site.

The strict requirements for workability, strength development, stability and pumpability were particularly challenging.

Through intensive initial tests and the use of the special cements CEM II/C-M (V-LL) 42.5 N and CEM III/A 42.5 N, we were not only able to meet these requirements but also achieve a CO2 saving of 40% in the cement.

This corresponds to Level 2 of the CO₂ module in the CSC system – a strong sign of sustainable construction without neglecting technical requirements. SUSTAINABILITY THAT WORKS.
